Chocolate Nouveau

Packaging Design

Creating a chocolate brand from scratch as well as the packaging for the chocolate bar itself, I knew I wanted to make it a more high-end chocolate. Inspired by the Art Nouveau era in art history, I envisioned the brand Chocolate Nouveau, a rich chocolate for the bougie moments in life.

After developing the brand and logotype, the next step was to create the packaging. The packaging featured colors that can be swapped out for each different flavor, an illustration showing the flavor, and gold foiling ornamentation imitating the framework of Art Nouveau illustrations. The color scheme was inspired by multiple Art Nouveau pieces, such as Alphonse Mucha’s work, a personal favorite.

Keeping it classy, I went for a basic chocolate bar box shape, including information on the back for the brand and Art Nouveau era to inform the consumer of the inspiration of the chocolate itself. Not only is the chocolate itself inspired, but some of the names of the special flavors are tied to Art Nouveau artists of the time, such as Horta Mint, a call out to Victor Horta.

The last step was the create an advertisement for the chocolate company that could be used on the brand’s Instagram. I animated a woman (Art Nouveau inspired of course) taking a bite of the chocolate and levitating into a nirvana of chocolate heaven, suggesting to the consumer that the chocolate is ethereal.
